YERMO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Semi tractor-trailer carrying food products caught fire Sunday night on southbound Interstate 15, prompting a multi-agency response and mutual aid from neighboring fire departments.
The San Bernardino County Fire Department was dispatched at approximately 7:45pm on October 25, 2026, on southbound I-15 at the Fort Irwin Road offramp on the right shoulder after reports of a tractor-trailer fire, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Firefighters arrived to find the rear tires fully engulfed in flames, with the fire spreading to the trailer full of food products.
Crews deployed multiple hose lines to contain and extinguish the blaze before conducting an extensive overhaul of the trailer.
Because of the scale of the fire and the location, the San Bernardino County Fire Department called Barstow Fire and Marine Corps Logistics Base fire personnel to provided mutual aid by supplying additional water to the scene.
Two of three lanes were blocked into Monday morning.
Officials said the trailer was transporting full load of mix food products.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, but looks like rear trailer brakes cause the fire.
