SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Firefighters doused flames at a car wash located at the Unocal 76 gas station on University Parkway near Interstate 215 in the city San Bernardino Saturday afternoon.
Callers stated a Hyundai Santa Fe Sport SUV on fire inside a gas station’s car wash about 3:38pm on November 11, 2023.
Arriving San Bernardino County firefighters found heavy smoke and fire conditions showing from an automatic type car wash. Crews initiated a fire attack, finding the Hyundai Santa Fe on fire inside the car wash. Firefighters worked in heavy wind conditions to suppress the vehicle fire & limit spread to the car wash & adjacent gas station. Within 20 minutes of arrival the fire was knocked down.
The car wash received major interior damage however the majority of the structure was saved. The gas station & adjacent vegetation was also saved.
Preliminary information indicated a vehicle malfunction caused the blaze, but fire officials are still investigating. No injuries to firefighters or citizens were reported.
