BAKER, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A pedestrian was struck and killed in a motor vehicle collision on southbound Interstate 15 before the town of Baker.

According to the California Highway Patrol Traffic Log calls were received at 9:54pm Thursday night about a pedestrian been hit on the 15 freeway on April 16, 2020.

The pedestrian was the driver of a car that was found in the center divder that CHP said was disabled.

When CHP arrived on the scene, a pedestrian was found unresponsive. Shortly after they pronounced the pedestrian deceased at the scene.

The vehicle that hit the pedestrian had had front end damage and did stop on the shoulder of the freeway and the person called 911. The driver did remain on the scene for questioning, according to the CHP.

CHP officials said that drugs or alcohol are not suspected to be a factor in this accident.

Also the driver was not found to be at fault, there is no plan to file charges.

This accident is currently under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office. Anyone with information regarding the accident is asked to call 760-255-5900.

Update the pedestrian was a 43 year-old male, his name will be released once his family is notified.
