BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A big mess happened when two big rigs and a SUV vehicle smash together on Interstate 15. The crash was reported on the southbound I-15, about one mile before Hodge Road exit.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department received calls of two big rigs with one big rig that looked like it lost control, exploded, and went off the freeway into the desert.

The crash occurred at about 8:46am Saturday morning on July 25, 2020. The accident prompted the closure of the two right lanes of the freeway until 11am for the cleanup of debris.

The red big rig with major front end and trailer damage went off the freeway, about 200 feet into the desert floor loaded with 30,000 lbs. of miscellaneous pallets. The driver was uninjured, just some minor scrape and bruises.

The other big rig only had major rear-end trailer damage. The driver was not injured

The third vehicle was a black SUV or a van unknown make or model. It crashed into one of the big rigs. One person was injured and transported to a hospital.

Traffic was backed up for several miles before lanes were reopened.

After the recovery and cleanup, lanes were reopened at 11am.

This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Barstow Office.

CHP said additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
