PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A single vehicle rollover accident on Highway 138 Wednesday afternoon in Phelan.
The crash happened about 3:21pm Wednesday May 26, 2021. About a mile from Interstate 15 at the sharp turn of the highway. The crash was on the Hesperia side of Hwy 138.
California Highway Patrol, and San Bernardino County Fire Department responded to accident. They located a black SUV maybe a Chevy Tahoe, Suburban or a GMC Yukon SUV on its side on Hwy 138. The driver and a passenger were trapped upside down inside the vehicle. Good Samaritans were trying to extricate both victims prior to firefighter arriving at the scene. Firefighters requested two medical helicopters to transport. Mercy Air 2 and Mercy Air 22 transported the driver and the passenger to Arrowhead Regional Medical Center in unknown conditions.
For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle lost control, hit the side of the embankment rolled over on its side. The vehicle was the only one involved in the crash. The incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol Inland Office. CHP says additional information will be updated as it becomes available.
