CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Here’s the latest information on the brush fires burning in the Cajon Pass and the Lytle Creek area from the San Bernardino National Forest Service officials gave an update Monday on the fires.
With the humidity going up and winds are low firefighters are working to keep these blazes at bay.
• South Fire in Lytle Creek started Wednesday August 25, is still at 819 acres and at 49% contained.
• Roadside Fire in the Cajon Pass started Saturday August 28, off of Cajon Blvd. is at 50 acres and at 60% contained.
• Railroad Fire in the Cajon Pass started Sunday August 29, off of northbound Interstate 15 is still at 61 acres, and at 50% contained.
With this information the cause of all 3 fires are still under investigation. All evacuations and road closures have been lifted for the affected areas. Be sure to drive cautiously and slowly in these areas while personnel continue mitigating hazards and mopping up. Smokes may pop up from time to time as interior pockets of unburned vegetation may light, but are not a threat to the containment lines. Please do not report if you see smoke or flames in these area.
