HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A driver was killed after a major crash involving two vehicles on northbound Interstate 15, according to the California Highway Patrol.

California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department received calls of a collision. The crash happened about 4:50am Wednesday on the northbound lanes of Interstate 15 just after Main Street onramp.

A witness said the dark gray Chevrolet Malibu was driving on the northbound I-15 when he was speeding in and out of traffic lanes prior to the collision.

The Chevrolet driver then may have clipped the black Toyota Camry and both lost control, rolling over several times. The Toyota landed off of the right shoulder near (frontage road) Mariposa Road. The Chevrolet Malibu ended up between both k-rails in the center divider inside the construction area. There may have been a third vehicle involved there was no info on that vehicle.

Firefighters rendered aid to the all the people involved in the crash and reported the driver of the Toyota was deceased at the scene. 

The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu only had minor injuries. He reported he stayed at the scene and was cooperating with CHP officers. The driver did not show signs of intoxication according to a witnesses.

All main lanes of the freeway were reopened several hours later.

CHP has not released a cause of the crash and did not identify the victim at this time. We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available.
