SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A fundraiser has been created to help with funeral costs for a woman killed in a unrelated crash, following a hit-and-run crash late Wednesday night in San Bernardino.

The GoFundMe for Antoinette Chavez has a $8,000 goal, with more than $8,035 raised as of Sunday night. The 30-year-old Chavez was killed Wednesday night May 3, 2023 when her vehicle she was hit by a hit-and-run driver on northbound Interstate 15 just before the University Parkway exit at approximately 11:52 pm.

For reasons still under investigation, her Chevy SUV was hit, then lost control, crashed and came to a rest blocking the middle lane. While dispatchers were talking Chavez for about a minute, she stopped answering questions. The dispatcher stated they heard a loud crash in the background while trying to get information from Chavez.

The initial vehicle from the crash didn’t stop and CHP doesn’t have a description for the vehicle that drove off from the scene.

A blue semi was traveling at freeway speeds and couldn’t see Chavezs’ vehicle that was disabled in the middle lane when it was hit by the semi. The semi pushed her vehicle and came to rest in the right shoulder of the freeway.

Rescue workers found Chavez unconscious and not breathing inside her Chevy. They rendered aid to the her, but sadly Chavez succumbed to her injuries sustained in the collision.

She is survived by her loving husband Sam and her two beautiful children, 4-year old boy Logan and a 2-year old girl Lexi.

The GoFundMe is to try to help alleviate some of the financial hardship, the father is going face with the unexpected expenses that will come up. Any amount will help and will be very appreciated.
