RUNNING SPRINGS, CA. (Pain In The Pass)>> Firefighters are battling a brush fire in the San Bernardino National Forest near Running Springs Sunday afternoon. High desert residences may see and smell smoke this late afternoon/evening.
The Flats Fire was first spotted around 2:36pm Sunday July 30, 2023 burning off of Highway 330 next to Old City Creek Road.
The fire is about 8 acres with no containment as of 4pm with new mapping. The fire has slowed significant as the fire moving down hill.
The winds were gusting at about 5 to 10 mph in heavy brush fanning the flames. Multiple helicopters and airtankers were called to the scene to do drops to help stop the fire.
No Structures were threatened during the fire fight. The fire remain under investigation by fire investigators.
