PRIMM, NV. (Pain In The Pass) >> Interstate 15 near the California-Nevada border was closed due to a “major dust storm,” according to Regional Transportation Commission of Southern Nevada.

The National Weather Service extended that dust storm warning on Sunday from Nipton Road to southwest Clark County including I-15 near Primm until 4:30pm NWS said visibility could be near zero at times.

Strong winds were kicking up dust that made it nearly impossible for drivers to see. Officials closed the 15 in both directions between the California-Nevada Stateline and Yates Well Road in Nipton California. Drivers were messaging on the Pain In The Pass Facebook Group about being stuck in bumper-to-bumper traffic for hours.

The strong winds were responsible for multiples accidents, temporarily closing both directions near Stateline. No major injures were reported from 11am to 5pm.

The Pain In The Pass Meteorologist Kevin from Southern California Weather Force is keeping an eye on developing wind changes, reporting gusts as high as 62 miles per hour in this area.

Lanes were reopen before 5pm as wind were dying down.
