San Bernardino County Fire Department and CAL Fire were getting calls of a new brush fire in south Hesperia. The Summit Fire was reported about 2:14pm Sunday, June 16, 2024, with structures were threated.

Air attack was working on the nearby Hesperia Fire less than 5 miles away. A helicopter was quickly on scene to dump water on the flames.

The fire was slope driven with the afternoon breeze and was quickly spread to 10 acres at 2:30pm.

At 3pm the fire is holding at the train tracks at about 12 acres burned. It looks like the fire had multiple starts across Summit Valley Rd.

Summit Valley Rd is closed from Los Flores St. to Telephone Canyon Rd. so firefighters will remain in the area for mop-up operations make sure no hot spots flare up.

The cause of the this fire is under investigation at this time.
