Just before 5pm Tuesday evening, a large white box truck was disabled in the slow lane about a mile after the Oak Hill Road exit. The driver of the box truck said the fuel tanks were broken and dripping fuel all over the traffic lanes and the right shoulder of the construction area. Around 5 gallons of diesel spilling onto the roadway and righ shoulder of the old Brake Check Area, Caltrans said.
Caltrans with help of the California Highway Patrol did a traffic break Wednesday morning at 8am to cleanup the slow lane and the right shoulder.
The hazmat team was on scene to clean up the fuel, causing the southbound lanes of the freeway to backup for several hours.
In the traffic backup there was multiple crashes made more traffic headaches for drivers going down the Cajon Pass.
Cones were pickup at 11am and traffic was backup all the way to Bear Valley Road with all the accidents and the cleanup.
