Around 12:22am. Saturday, August 24, 2024, the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department were called to the northbound I-15 about a mile and a half before the Bear Valley Road exit for a vehicle crash with injuries.

When first responders arrived, they said one person was ejected from one of the vehicles. The crash was between white Pontiac G6 sedan and a silver Nissan Rogue SUV.

The CHP preliminary investigations reveal that the Pontiac G6 was traveling in the #2 lane and the Nissan Rogue in the #1 lane on I-15 northbound just after Main Street in Hesperia.

For unknown reasons, the Pontiac made an unsafe left lane change, colliding with the Nissan Rogue. Both vehicles hit the center divider, causing both drivers to lose control.

The Pontiac overturned but ended up back on its wheels within the traffic lanes, while the Nissan Rogue went into the right shoulder, crashed into a concrete ditch, and landed on its roof.

The driver of the Pontiac was the only person in the car at the time of the crash. Recuse crew said the male adult was taken by Mercy Air #22 helicopter to Loma Linda University Medical Center but the extent of the injuries is unknown. Reports said he was conscious and breathing.

The other vehicle, the Nissan Rogue, had two occupants who were not injured in the crash.

CHP Officers had to shut down northbound traffic for the investigation of the crash, a medical helicopter to land on the freeway, and an investigation of a stolen vehicle stated on the CHP traffic log.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
