According to the California Highway Patrol the collision happened, at around 6:54am on Hwy 138 at I-15 intersection on Tuesday October 1, 2024. It was reported the semi driver was traveling from southbound Interstate 15 in a double-bottom gravel hauler and exit the Hwy 138 offramp at a high speed and flipped over onto the driver’s side.

After rolling into the intersection, CHP said the semi hit another semi tractor trailers that was traveling on eastbound Hwy 138. The driver of the overturned semi had to be extracted from the cab and was transported to Loma Linda University Medical Center with minor injuries.

One of the sets of doubles, which can carry up to 20 tons of gravel per pay load, ended up spilling all of its contents onto the highway.

Caltrans crews had to use a front-loader to scoop up all the gravel that was spilled and then put into another trailer.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
