HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is alerting the public that construction contractors continue performing work along southbound Interstate 15, for the $25 million Cajon Weigh Station Relocation Project. This project will relocate the southbound Cajon Weigh Station and Truck Safety Brake Check Area at the top of the Cajon Pass.
The existing southbound I-15 scale facility is closed.
Phase 2 of the construction project starts Tuesday night; crews are performing grinding work this week following the concrete paving that was completed two weeks ago.
Crews will close the following locations to complete work.
Closure Location:
- Southbound I-15 Oak Hill Road off ramp and on ramp will be closed.
- Southbound I-15 Ranchero Rd. both on ramp closed.
- Alternating lanes closures on Southbound I-15 between Highway 395 and Highway 138.
(see map below). - Lane #1 fast line will remain open for all ongoing traffic.

Closure Schedule:
Nightime roadwork is between 7pm and 5am* (7am if needed).
Tuesday night May 27th through Friday night May 30th, 2025. No roadwork on Saturday night and Sunday night.
*Times can subject to change and could go longer or start earlier. Please use caution and remember to reduce your speed when approaching and driving through the construction zones. Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or construction issues.
Expect major traffic at peak times, like around 7pm-8pm and at 4am-5am.
The project is anticipated to be completed by Summer 2025.
