FONTANA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A Santa Ana Wind event was creating dangerous driving conditions across the Interstate 15 freeway, flipping a semi tractor-trailer and forcing a Sig-Alert.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the big rig flipped onto its side just around 9:42am January 9, 2026, on southbound I-15 just before the Sierra Avenue exit.
The semi landed on the #1 and #2 lane with a passing sedan into the center divider with damage to the car.
Santa Ana winds were gusting over 50 mph in north San Bernardino and Fontana area.
A Sig-Alert was issued at 10:15am for 3 of 4 lanes to move the semi to the shoulder of the freeway.
The semi driver involved walked away with only minor injuries.
