Labor Day Weekend Traffic Will Be Busy, But Stay Away From Stateline & Las Vegas Due To Major Roadway Repairs

CAJON PASS, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> As the Labor Day holiday weekend approaches, travelers are expected to take to the roadways despite the semi high gas prices. AAA representatives said the organization expects the Labor Day holiday weekend travel volume to return to near pre-pandemic levels, as it did for the Memorial Day and Independence Day holiday weekends earlier this summer.

People are expected to travel 50 miles or more from home during this weekend. In Las Vegas you can expect traffic on Thursday and Friday afternoon. The travel sites are saying Las Vegas is the #1 destinations this Labor Day Weekend so this means heavy traffic on Interstate 15 with a emergency bridge work on Southbound I-15 Near Stateline that is 24 hour lane closure two of three lanes blocked. Check the Pain In The Pass Facebook Group before you go, with up-to-date traffic conditions.

Expect traffic delays on Thursday and Friday afternoon/evening for northbound Interstate 15. Also on Sunday and Monday (the Holiday) afternoon/evening for southbound I-15. The hot spots will be in the Cajon Pass, Devore, Hesperia, Victorville, Barstow, Baker and Stateline areas. Try to travel during off peak hours (early morning or late at night). The worst time to travel is around 2pm to 7pm on these days.

Emergency bridge work to the southbound I-15 between Nipton Road to Bailey Rd. The Wheaton Wash bridge has erosion that occurred during last week storms. Caltrans will reduce the three-lane freeway to just one lane during the repairs. Construction workers will work around the clock to ensure the repairs are completed safety on time. The Pain In The Pass Traffic Group would like to say “Stay Away” from going to Stateline or the Las Vegas area. Last weekend Sunday traffic in this area the traffic delay was over two hours to go 16 miles during the peak time.

If you plan to hit the road this Labor Day Weekend, below are some helpful tips:
