LYLE CREEK, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Office says a brush fire has been reported north of the town of Lyle Creek Wednesday morning. (Picture above is credit by Tillie Cohen-Lindsey.)
The fire dubbed the Nob Fire was reported at about 10:36am Wednesday, April 26, 2023. It is burning in a remote area of Lyle Creek Road and Cold Water Canyon north of the town. Flames are burning uphill toward mountain snowpack left behind by this winter storms.
The brush fire is estimated to have burned roughly 175 acres as of 4pm. Smoke could be seen from the high desert and from the valley.
No structures are directly threatened.
Details about how the fire started were not immediately available. Some reports said it was started by a control burn.
Lytle Creek Rd is only open to residents at this time.
Update at 6pm the fire is 200 acres and 5% contained with slow rate of spread at this time.
Friday afternoon update on the mapping the fire is at 227 aces with 25% containment.
Friday evening update the size is still 227 acres burned with the containment up to 49%.
Saturday at 8pm is at 60% containment on the 227-acre fire. Lytle Creek Road is closed at Sycamore Canyon.
