WRIGHTWOOD, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The San Bernardino County Public Works reports that Lone Pine Canyon Road in Wrightwood remains closed due to multiple sections where the asphalt has been undermined, creating unsafe driving conditions.
Environmental requirements are currently pending and are expected to be completed in early February. Once approved, final plans and specifications will be prepared, with completion anticipated by mid-March. The project is expected to move into the advertising phase in mid-March, followed by contractor onboarding in early May. Construction is estimated to take approximately one month, with completion targeted for the end of May. The Department of Public Works is committed to expediting the schedule and may shorten timelines if opportunities arise.
Officials note that the extended timeline is due to the required process for an engineered project, which includes environmental clearance, design, and contractor procurement in accordance with Public Contract Code requirements.
