BARSTOW, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A fire that originated in the Mojave River bed in Barstow on Thursday afternoon.
According to Barstow Fire, the blaze, dubbed the Nash Fire, started sometime around 5:35pm on July 2, 2026, near Marks Road and Clay River Rd. next to the Mojave River bed.
The fire burned at least 30 acres as of 6:36pm and was burning in heavy fuels with a moderate rate of spread with help from the afternoon winds.
“Air resources with the help of three planes and two helicopters, working diligently to build containment lines around the perimeter of the fire. Air resources were able to drop water and retardant before night fall.
No additional information about the fire has been released at this time.
