YERMO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> One person died Friday morning in a crash on Interstate 15 southbound between Calico Road and Ghost Town Road.

California Highway Patrol and Cal Fire were called at 2:40am on Friday April 10, 2020. A disabled big rig semi hauling vehicles on its trailer crossed traffic lanes of the freeway after hitting the guardrail.

Several minutes went by, at 2:52am a sedan reported to be a 2006 Pontiac G6 crashed into the side of the disabled big rig car-hauler trailer.

The Pontiac was traveling in the fast lane and for a unknown reason still under investigation, the driver failed to observe the disabled big rig vehicle hauler that was blocking lanes.

The driver was found unresponsive. Shortly after they pronounced the driver deceased at the scene.

The driver of the semi was not hurt in crash.

All southbound lanes were blocking at at 3am. CHP reopen the slow lane at 7:23am and all lanes were reopened at 8:19am.

There were two separate accidents in the backup with no injuries were reported.

CHP officials said alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to be a contributing factor in this collision.

Caltrans said, about 100 feet of guardrail was damage by the big rig.
