FONTANA, CA (Pain In The Pass) >> California Department of Transportation Caltrans will begin a new Pavement Rehabilitation Project on Interstate 15 in the city of Fontana on April 13 -April 17.

This roadwork project includes repaving the three lanes in both directions, repaving the on and off ramps, replace the bridge guardrails, and slab replacement in lanes.

Roadwork on the northbound 15 side will start just before Sierra Ave to Glen Helen Parkway.

Roadwork on the southbound 15 side will start just before Glen Helen Pkwy to Sierra Ave.

Started in April there will be at night-time roadwork that will start at 8pm Monday night until 5am each morning. Monday night – Friday morning and weekend closures during the construction time frame if need be.

Sierra Ave and Glen Helen Pkwy on and off ramps may be closed during the closure time.

Caltrans expects to complete the project by Febuary 2021.

Each day, more than 132,000 cars and trucks and nearly 9,200 big rigs travel though this project stretch.

The funding for this project is from Caltrans and from SB 1 (the gas tax).

The work schedule will be subject to change due to weather or construction-related issues.

Motorists are advised to use alternate routes and to always reduce speed through work zones.
