HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) will continue work on a $122 million project to rehabilitate and repave traffic lanes and ramps and upgrade the drainage systems in the center divider on Interstate 15 in San Bernardino County. This project will not add a extra lane to the freeway or for a train.

Watch for new lane configuration coming this week on Thursday and Friday, NB and SB lane 4 will be separated.

They are repaving that lane for approximately 1 mile at a time. This new traffic pattern will go on for months from around Ranchero Rd. to Highway 395 in both directions. Expect Major Delays at night and around 4am-5am morning daily.

  • Highway 395 connector closures could be closed in both directions at night at times.

Monday night –  Saturday morning – 5/8-5/13 (Weekend schedule subject to change)

Northbound I-15 from Oak Hill Rd to Main Street – 9pm. to 9am* Saturday until 7am*

  • Alternating lane closures, possibly bringing lanes down to one.
  • All on and off ramps are subject to intermittent closures for crew safety and related roadwork.
  • Traffic maybe backup after Highway 138 for about 2 miles.

Southbound I-15 from Main Street to Oak Hill Rd – 8pm. – 4am* Saturday until 7am*

  • Alternating lane closures, possibly bringing lanes down to one.
  • All on and off ramps are subject to intermittent closures for crew safety and related roadwork.

New lane reconfiguration begins Thursday and Friday on NB and SB lanes 1, 2 and 3, will shift inward toward the newly paved center median, splitting from the #4 lane, with k-rail on both sides.

*Times can subject to change and could go longer or start earlier. On and off ramps may be subject to closure. Please use caution and remember to reduce your speed when approaching and driving through the construction zones. Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or construction issues.

The project is expected to be complete in early 2025.
