The crash occurred on southbound I-15 just before Foothill Boulevard around 10:19am on February 20, 2024. California Highway Patrol and firefighters from Rancho Cucamonga City Fire Department were called to the crash scene.

The two vehicles involved in the collision were a white Walmart semi tractor trailer and a white Chevrolet pickup truck. It’s possible that another driver caused the big rig driver to lose control.

The semi collide with the guard rail in the center divider and smash through it. The pickup truck stopped in the #3 lane with major front-end damage.

The driver of the semi reportedly fell out of the cab as he attempted to get out with minor injuries. The driver of the pickup also had minor injuries.

CHP and Caltrans confirmed that 200 gallons of diesel had spilled across multiple lanes, prompting a hazardous material (HAZMAT) response to crash scene.

Multiple lanes were closed for the cleanup and the removal of the semi. Caltrans said at 3:45pm lanes were reopen.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Rancho Cucamonga Office.
