The incident happened on southbound I-15 about 10:35am on June 20, 2024, about 7 miles away the town of Baker. The semi was carrying an unknown product not listed on the traffic log. This is when the driver noticed one of the rear tires of the trailer was on fire. The driver stopped on the shoulder on the freeway.

The driver was able to detach the tractor from the trailer to save the tractor cab from catching fire.

California Highway Patrol were on scene and block the two right traffic lanes. CHP receive aid from firefighters San Bernardino County Fire Department to quickly extinguish the flames.

It looks like a problem with the rear trailer brakes or a wheel bearing that caused the problem.

Luckily, there were no injuries.
