California Highway responded to the reported crash on southbound I-15 at the Main Street exit around 2:49am Tuesday July 30, 2024.

CHP said the semi driver drifted into the lane split area, hitting sand barrels before driving over multiple traffic cone. A second vehicle hit the sand barrels and cone that were spread across all the lanes.

I think the driver may have fell asleep before crashing into a roadside construction site. Roadwork was being perform thought the night and speed also may have play a factor in the collision.

Lanes at Main Street was shut down for around a hour as traffic was diverted to use the offramp and then back on using the onramps while crews from Caltrans and the Construction workers clean up the sand from the barrels and pick up the traffic cones.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Victorville Office.
