PHELAN, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> A motorhome fire lights up the morning sky on Highway 138 Thursday morning. (Photo above is credit by Jesse James.) 

The motorhome fire was reported about 5am on Thursday September 5, 2024, with the California Highway Patrol and San Bernardino County Fire Department were on scene to put out the fire on a 30 foot RV motorhome. The location was about two miles before Highway 2 exit.

CHP and firefighters were on the scene and had to temporarily shut down the up bound lanes while they worked on getting the vehicle fire put out.

The everyone did escape the motorhome before it became fully engulfed. No injuries were reported at the scene. It was reported flames were under the engine compartment, before the whole vehicle caught fire. The cause of the vehicle fire is unknown at this time.

One lane on Highway 138 was reopend at 6am.
