SAN BERNARDINO, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> An semi-truck crashed into a guardrail Thursday morning on southbound Interstate 215.

On Thursday May 8, 2025, just after 6am, California Highway Patrol officers responded to a report of a crash on southbound I-215 just after the Palm Avenue/Kendall Drive exit.

The crash created traffic mess on the freeway, causing about a 5-mile backup for the morning commute.

The crash involved an 18-wheeler that appeared to have lost control and crashed into a guardrail, CHP traffic log said. Diesel fuel about 30 gallons spilled across the slow lane and the right shoulder. HAZMAT crews were called to help clean it up and the right lane was closed for hours.

Officials say the driver was not hurt in the collision.

We will update this story with more information when the CHP’s preliminary accident report is available. Additional details were limited at this time. This incident will be under investigation by the California Highway Patrol, Inland Office.
