VICTORVILLE, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> Isaac Ismael Cortez, a 39-year-old resident of Whittier,was killed in a hit-and-run crash following a rollover crash on northbound Interstate 15 in Victorville that happened earlier this month.
California Highway Patrol said the first crash occurred about 1:44am on September 16, 2025, just before La Mesa/Nisqualli Road exit. This collision was reported a two-vehicle crash involved a semi tractor-trailer and a white pickup truck that was on its roof in the right lane. The contact causes the semi to leak fuel in the traffic lanes.
The second crash was reported around 1:48am involved a pedestrian being struck by an unknown vehicle in the northbound I-15 lanes. The driver fled the scene, traveling north.
Officers arrived to encounter Cortez who had been struck by a vehicle and the first collision. Cortez was pronounced deceased at the scene.
CHP said, no description of the hit-and-run vehicle or driver was available. The vehicle may have sustained damage to its front, right front, but may have had a front bumper guard attached, “possibly limiting or even eliminating any damage displayed to the vehicle,” the statement said.
