HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The Ranchero Road Widening Project is continuing. The widening project is approximately a 5 mile stretch of road.
As part of the widening project, Ranchero Road will be closed between Seventh Avenue and Cottonwood Avenue in the city of Hesperia from April 10, 2023 to June 2, 2023* while crews will relocation a waterline under the bridge. Detours will be in place. See map below of the closure.

Expect Traffic Delays at peak times like in the morning and evening commute.
The widening project is planned for a 5-mile stretch of Ranchero Rd. from Mariposa Road to Seventh Avenue. They are planning to install new traffic signals which will be be placed at the intersections of Maple Avenue, Cottonwood Ave., and Seventh Ave. Also they will replace the bridge over the California Aqueduct, and widening the railroad crossing near Oak Hills High School.

Ranchero Rd. will be closed again in July or August* at the aqueduct for about 6 to 9 months* for work widening the bridge.
The total cost of the project is estimated at $64.1 million, with the City of Hesperia responsible for $37 million. The county and the San Bernardino County Transportation Authority are expected to cover the remaining costs. This project is anticipated to take 18 months to complete. With all the rain it may extend the project to finish on time.
*Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or construction issues.
This project is anticipated to be complete at the end of 2023 or beginning of 2024.
