HESPERIA, CA. (Pain In The Pass) >> The California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) has started an emergency project to install a drainage system along State Route Highway 138 (SR-138) between Interstate 15 Freeway and Summit Valley Road just west of Summit Office Road approximately 0.3 miles section of the highway. (see map below)

This emergency project is critical to preventing water from crossing the highway during heavy rainfall and flooding events. By installing an improved drainage system, the project will enhance roadway safety, protect the traveling public, and help maintain traffic flow during severe weather conditions.
The closure locations will happen near Summit Office Rd. and will take place with a 24/7 reversible lane closures (they will install one-way traffic signal) so expect traffic delays at times.
Please use caution and remember to reduce your speed when approaching and driving through the construction zones.
The project is expected to be complete at the end of 2025 or in Januray 2026. This project is subject to change due to inclement weather or construction issues.
